Most Rev. Fr. Alfred Agyenta was born in Wiaga in the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese on January 20, 1959 to Sylvester and Diana Agyenta. He had his elementary schooling in Wiaga from 1964-1974 and continued at the Minor Seminary of the Diocese in Navrongo from 1974-1979.

After his Sixth Form education in Nandom Secondary School, he entered the Saint Victor’s Major Seminary in 1981 and was ordained priest on August 6, 1988 for the diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga. He was appointed curate to the Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Cathedral, Navrongo, from 1988-1991 and was sent to Rome for studies at the Biblicum. When he returned home, he was appointed Lecturer and Formator at the St. Victor’s Major Seminary from 1995-2000.

Rev Fr Agyenta then went to Belgium for his doctorate and returned in 2006 as a staff of St Victor’s and St. Augustine Millennium Seminary till he was appointed new Bishop of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.
